Went to Tulips in FW and the guy at the door was making the men turn their pockets inside out and searching any bags women were carrying. I had to take my pocketknife back to the truck, it was only a 3.5" blade but they were not allowing any pocketknives. I asked the the guy is this still Texas and he got a little pissy. Is this common just to get into a bar now? Are we turning into a state of sissies?

Must have had an incident in the recent past... Just trying to cover all their bases if and when the next incident happens... Dan

That’s an outrage! Call Univision out there to do an investigative report.

The last stripper dive bar I entered. The bouncer would pat you down. This is an off the wall place here in notorious downtown Killeen. Decent looking women.

I had a pocket knife clipped to my pocket. An OTF dagger. The bouncer ran his hand over it. He knew I had it. He let me through like I didn't.

I was leaning towards Telemundo. Went to see Sierra Hull, she's bluegrass for the most part. Mostly a bunch of old white guys and their wives. Never heard of a stabbing at a bluegrass jam. Although Bob Davis could probably get pretty rowdy.

Not uncommon in bars or large venue gatherings. I had to mail a small pocketknife home from Globe Life Field a couple years ago. If I'm going where there is going to be a pat down, shakedown, wanding, or walk through detectors I don't take anything but key fob, wallet and phone.

Haven't you noticed the pussification of men over the last 40-50 years or so?

I do not understand why you are upset. The bar is trying to protect their patrons and themselves.

I'm old school I guess. I grew up in when a pocketknife was just a tool and a basic necessity. If a guy wanted to bring a knife into the bar he could easily conceal it to get through the security check. Not all bars do this, first for me.

I remember when the bars west of FW on 80 gave you a knife if you didn't bring one. wink

Why bring a knife to a gun fight?

I would be thinking pretty hard about going somewhere else while walking back to the truck.
This happened to me at a Frisco rough riders game. In that case, they already had my money, I did the walk of shame, which is really a walk of disgruntled anger

I think it’s silly they made you put a 3.5” pocket knife in your truck, but if it’s just a tool, why bring it to the bar? What task were you expecting to have to do at a bar that required a tool? Why not a screw driver or a hammer?

I understand (and agree with) the outrage, but a knife isn’t just a tool and, if it is just a tool, there isn’t a need for it, at least any more than any other tool, in the bar as a patron.

It's the space between your ride and the door. Maybe you threw enough money at a stripper she ignores the other guy. Other guy gets upset. Other guy decides to try and throttle you....In the space between your ride and the door.

I didn't even drink at the stripper bar I went to. Oh Hell No. If they gotta search you at the door. Nobody is preaching the good book inside.

You don’t need a tool if you’re attacked, you need a weapon. I agree that it’s silly to not be able to carry a pocket knife into a bar, I just think the tool argument is flawed. That’s the point I’m making.
