Wife is to the point of demanding I get hearing aids due to TV being up so loud or asking her to repeat herself when she is saying something. I know I'm hard of hearing, but I told her that is an asset at my age and also due to being married to her for 31 years. Also told we need to buy a new TV that has bluetooth headset so I can watch TV and look like an idiot with a headset on.

I’m in the same boat. My hearing is getting noticeably worse since last year’s hearing test. Tv volume in the living room is in the 40’s.

It's 2024. You'll be amazed at headphone technology. It's better then the TV and noise canceling. Meaning you won't hear her.

Headphones or maybe try directional speakers.

Have you tried turning the speakers towards you and away from her?
We need an expert to comment on it.

I do. Difference in hearing is amazing. Don't wear them as frequently as I should though.

The best is when you're in your groove. Relaxing with headphones. Then she starts talking. You point at the headphones. She does the pointing at her ears. Wanting you to take them off so she can talk.

So after the third time. You take them off. What TF do you want? "Oh nothing, I just wanted to know if you're listening to me."

Got mine at Costco. Less than $2000.00. You won't be disappointed.

I have them. They are great. You can Bluetooth them to your cell phone and they have a microphone as well.

Got mine over 20 years ago. First pair I shorted out doing yard work. Latest ones are pretty good, but need to be replaced. VA sent them in for a rebuild, still getting a series of beeps in the right one at least once a day. The other night I forgot to take them out and put my ear buds in to listen to my laptop and the buds fit without pushing the hearing aids further into the ear. I have the ones that go over the ear but you can hardly see the small piece that goes over the ear. Need to get the in the ear ones though next because I'm tired of fighting with them and glasses.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I got 1 for the right ear from Sams in Burleson 8 years ago when I retired. Couldnt afford one for the left ear too! Great fella name Shane Reynolds is the Tech in charge there and has been great when I go in for tuneups and free batteries. Like a lot of folks I should use it more than I do.

I have them. Don't wear them as much as I should, but they definitely help Don't buy them from Dollar General or Walmart. Go to an audiologist and have your hearing range spectrum characterized. Then you can find some programmable hearing aids and customize them to fill in the frequencies that you need help with. The good ones are small and fit your ear canals correctly and not irritate you. They are "smart" in that they can sense wind noise, background noises, etc. and cancel that out and only bring up what you are missing.

If you go cheap, you will never be satisfied with them. They don't like water, so you can't or shouldn't wear them working outside where you will be sweating, or if it rains.

I have high frequency loss, from working the flight line around aircraft jet engines for 8 years. So, on my TV, I set the "treble" high magnitude and the "bass" low. Otherwise it sounds muffled.

I don't wear mine sometimes because my hearing loss is a terrific "wife voice discriminator"
