Thanks for the report. I am headed there tomorrow (10/14) to fish it for the 1st time. Any suggestions on which ramp to use and which direction to go from there?
the 897 ramp is the closest to Dallas...it also get's the fullest quickest.. The north Ramp is a nice ramp and has a ton of parking. You will just be closer to the dam. I am catching a lot of my fish on the west side of the lake, on the other side of the bridge. Find ledges 4' that drops to 15-20'. I have been catching most of my fish on the 4" craw from Tacklecoop.com
https://tacklecoop.com/product/4-craws/ in the "Blue craw" color and the "black and blue". Get a few bags because I went through 6 bags of them this weekend. The bass are mean and they tear any soft plastics baits up.
I found 2 effect strategies, jigging and slow creeping the bait and then swimming it...swimming it was especially effective in the shallow water near the tops of trees and stumps..the bass would come up and grab them. They have extra big claws that have a wide flap which I think really helped gets bass attention. I tried speed craws and flukes but never got as many hits as I did with these. Its insane, on both sides of the lakes.
Find irregular bends in creeks that sweep up close to shore bass congregate in those areas too. Fishing has been really good... We caught 50+ bass on Sat with special guest Cher Kerbassian and Sunday it was a little slower only caught about 20-25 bass.. I'm getting the full report ready.
