The round reels that just hold line! I just bought one. I've always used spinning reels but never use the reel when jogging crappies. Just curious if any of y'all use them!

I have a Eagle Claw ice reel I use on a jigging pole. I typically use it during the spawn and it works great.

I tried one , it was cheap and light , but I hated it. Worked ok till you hooked a fish. You could barely reel in a small one. Would have hated it on bigger fish.

which kind of reel? Is it one of these? I`ve had these two reels for a few years and have never had an issue with either. Sometimes it`s not the Arrow but the person behind it.

I used the reel on the bottom.It was ok except the drag was cheap and on a decent fish I had to pinch the line like using a fly rod. I think it was called Solo

I use a bait casting reel for jigging and a spinning reel for casting/dock shooting.

I fish too deep to use those little reels. Truman boys like using them but they’re rarely fishing over 8-10’ deep.

Fishinkev Reels like these are not the most extravagant and expensive but they will catch fish and some will call them garbage & that`s fine but one man`s garbage is another man`s treasure.They do serve a purpose believe it or not. Personally ,on the bottom reel ,I use 10 lb Braid with a 6 lb leader, piece of lead & a #2 Crappie hook. This is one of my bridge setups.

I consider those reels to be nothing more than line holders. They work great on pitching jigs with long rods. Don't expect to fight a big fish with the drag.

Love those little reels, have the small one on my spring jigging poles for wading when I’m never fishing more than 5 feet deep, they don’t get hung up on the tree branches and buck brush when your in the thick stuff.
They have a purpose and better than the block of wood I use to tape at the end of an old fly rod to wrap the line around,lol.
