It took close to 26 lbs to win. Last check was around 14 pounds. Only 26 boats and still paid out 10 teams for a total of $10K. Obviously not the turnout they were hoping for. It was good fishing for a great cause, good food, and a solid raffle assortment.

Sounds like they need to move it back to fork.

Why is MDM at Hubbard?
When we won it in 2015, I think there were 150+ teams.
They have deleted all the past results info for some reason.

They moved it to Hubbard this year as a result of significant sponsorship help with Bass Pro in garland. They ran the weigh-in out of chandlers but had all the vendors, raffle and activities at bass pro. Apparently bass pro agreed to take on all of the tournament advertisement, which ended up just being a couple signs in their parking lot and flyers in the store, which were easily overlooked. Clearly there was a significant miscommunication on the promotional side of this tournament, which is very unfortunate. A lot of Hubbard regulars were completely unaware of this tournament

Unfortunately, this is a pattern with the local management at the Garland store. Massive over-promise and severely under-deliver. I know another tournament out there that was promised a big push and given nothing by way of promotion. When I spoke to the organizer on site, he indicated he had a follow-up/lessons learned (post-mortem) with the Chamber. Hopefully someone will share the hard truth with the local management team.

It will never get a fraction of the participation it did at Fork. That was maybe not the best move on the part of whomever is running it now.

Crazy… it always drew great at Fork. We had to dodge that weekend with our event every year because the rooms were booked solid. Aside from the group of locals Hubbard never draws worth a darn. Hopefully they’ll move it back next year and have continued success.

Fish For A Cure is out there on Oct 27th and we draw 70-80 boats and have gone as high as 99, Not like Fork but when the cause is a great one, people come out. Hope you will find time this year! See the post here in the Bass Fishing section with details
