I haven’t built in a few years so trying to get a pulse on the industry. No lot no site work- just a slab on grade basic builder grade home was quoted 500 per foot in Colorado. Obviously will be taking to more builders but surely that’s not even close? I was expecting 150-200 a foot for a basic home not counting the lot or site work. Any builders here?

New spec houses in my area are on the market for about $200/sq ft. I would assume the cost to build would be a bit less.

Last time I asked a superintendent, he said they were over $300ft; but I don’t know what all he included in that (well, septic, etc…). Custom home, not real fancy, but pretty dang nice.

Shop around, but prepare to grab your ankles. Building costs are absolutely crazy here. I wanted to do a storage shed recently and was quoted $1000/yard for concrete.

Starter homes used to be 120-150 sq ft. Custom was in the 200 range.

Nowadays, 200 is starter home 3 bed, 2 bath track home.

400-500 for custom home.

High cost of living areas add 50%

$200+ per square foot. Although I just sold a new build for $192/sqft with the quarter acre subdivision lot included in the price.

I don't think you can get a builder here to call you back for under 400k.

Did a little research. I would say $200 per s/ft for the Magnolia area.

That’s the upper end of my budget for the house only- no site work. I could stomach that. For 500 a foot I’ll just not do it at all.. I gotta call some more builders.
