For the weight range and technique you are asking about, I would suggest the Finesse Jig rod or the Head Turner model. They are listed 6'10" but when placed next to my 7' rods they may be an inch shorter from the reel seat up. The finesse jig model is a bit faster with a bit more tip. The head turner bends a bit deeper but has a bit more power. Both rods are multi purpose and both skip docks and laydowns great. Finesse rod is great with weightless senkos and flukes and still has plenty of power for lighter texas rigs. The head turner is great with light to say 1/2 oz t rigs and jigs. It makes a great spinner bait or chatter bait rod around docks and low cover as well. If you're truly flipping heavier cover or making longer pitches then yes, a 7' + rod may be more beneficial.

Love the Amistad for throwing everything from a Texas rig, to a flippin jig to a football jig. One of the best rods ever made +1 Finesse Jig is good for lighter weights and senkos. I don't care for the Head Turner as much for t-rig. I use it for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. To me the new Expert is very similar to the prior Cara T7s. They are $50 less that the new Caras if you have budget in mind.

Not long enough for a sweeping hookset when c rigging. The Finesse Jig 6’10” is really better for fishing around docks. We’ll be is asking for a 1/4oz t rig rod Under that now that you pointed it out! Sorry. I was thinking T rig, then went to Carolina in my mind. Haha. The Lizard Dragger is still the best choice. IMO

I have used the Lowrider Series rods for many years and the Lizard Dragger has always been one of my favorites for many techniques. This year I ran across a good deal on a couple of Expert Series Head Turner rods and then bought one of the Lowrider Head Turners. I really like these rods and one of the Expert Series rods became my Swim Jig rod which I always have with me and one of my favorite ways to fish and it is a great rod for this application. I also have been using the other one for my Texas Rig CrawTube fishing. I currently have the Lowrider Head Turner for my Chatterbait.

I like that 7’4” Falcon Cara Heavy Cover Jig rod. I use it for 3/16oz and up. Also use it as a c-rig rod, and have used it as an emergency frog rod when I snapped my rod in thick vegetation.

The Falcon Cara "Head Turner" is a very good rod for what you are looking for.

Another vote for the Lizard Dragger. In the Lowrider series this model is one of my “all around” rods. While it is a good Carolina-rig rod it also is a great T-rig, small/medium jigs, bladed jig, spinner bait…..I even like it for throwing squarebill cranks. Two rods in my collection that are my favorite “do it all” rods: Falcon Lowrider Lizard Dragger and the Dobyns Champion 734. Both are outstanding for almost everything and the Lowrider is WAY cheaper! I can get a Champion 734 for less than a Cara right now from Copper State Tackle. That Kaden I bought kind of turned me off though. I may try one again another day

Y’all have a preference on the Expert or the Cara or are they about the same? I just want sensitivity and a good back bone, so which ever one of those is that is the series I want.

Cara's sensitivity, workmanship, and aesthetics are head and shoulders better. also, a variety of actions and lengths

Y’all have a preference on the Expert or the Cara or are they about the same? I just want sensitivity and a good back bone, so which ever one of those is that is the series I want. The Cara is considered to be the flagship of Falcon, but, honestly, The Cara, Expert, & Lowrider are all pretty solid. Little better blanks on the expert and Cara, but not by much.

Expert might be the same blank as the cara, but the guide quality leaves a lot to be desired. aesthetics are higher quality and sharp on the cara. I think it is 50$ more for the Cara and worth every penny, in my book

I have the Lowrider Cranker II for deep divers and the build quality is phenomenal. I wish there was somewhere down here around Houston that sold Caras. One of the tackle shops near me only carries Expert and Lowrider. Never have even seen a Cara in person.

They have a CULT following. The people that are Dobyns fanboys won’t even bluegill fish without a Dobyns. I’m sure the Champ Extreme and above are badass, but it seems like you can get a similar quality rod for less. I got to reading a bit more in depth about this and that does seem to be the general consensus by the “real world” people that aren’t hanging on Gary’s arm lol

Fuji guides, Fuji reel seat, decent cork, nice epoxy on the guides. For $129 msrp it is a really good buy.
