I got a Dobyns KD714C and don’t care for it much. Not as sensitive as I thought it’d be and feels too “broomstickish” to me. Plan on returning it
I’d really like to give the Falcon Expert series a go, maybe a Cara. Throwing mainly 1/4-3/8oz Texas rigs. What do y’all recommend?

Amistad isn’t too heavy of a rod for those weights? I figured it was more for dragging 3/4oz+ but I could be wrong

2nd for Amistad, you would think it is too heavy but it really isn’t. Great all round rod for flipping and pitching.

I use their 7' All Around fast tip rod. I love it, it's the right flex for my flipping. I use their 7.3' Amistad for frogs and heavy jigs.

I have a MH MF Bucoo I’ve been using for Texas rigs and don’t like how slow the tip is.

7'3 Amistad. You can also use it for several other things. Amistad is too much. I’d suggest a Lizard Dragger for that setup. It was actually designed for a 1/4-3/8 Carolina rig. It is a Heavy/Extrafast, but it fishes like a medium heavy…plenty of back bone. I caught a 6.27 on it last night with 12lb InvisX and a Steez 7.5:1. No trouble getting it to the boat. I had the fish there waiting on my partner to get the net ready. Excellent rod. I have 24 Falcons, 6 of which are Lizard Draggers. They are great for so many things. It REALLY should be the “all-‘round” rod….instead of the slower taper “all-‘round” 7’ medium heavy /moderate.

Not long enough for a sweeping hookset when c rigging. The Finesse Jig 6’10” is really better for fishing around docks.

Falcon make a couple that'll fit the bill... Go to their website and look at their selection... Great rods, great customer service... Dan

Love the Amistad for throwing everything from a Texas rig, to a flippin jig to a football jig. One of the best rods ever made

Another vote for the Lizard Dragger. In the Lowrider series this model is one of my “all around” rods. While it is a good Carolina-rig rod it also is a great T-rig, small/medium jigs, bladed jig, spinner bait…..I even like it for throwing squarebill cranks. Two rods in my collection that are my favorite “do it all” rods: Falcon Lowrider Lizard Dragger and the Dobyns Champion 734. Both are outstanding for almost everything and the Lowrider is WAY cheaper!

Amistad isn’t too heavy of a rod for those weights? I figured it was more for dragging 3/4oz+ but I could be wrong I would suggest the heavy cover jig rod. heavy cover jig rod is basically a slightly lighter version of the amistad. I have an Amistad and a heavy cover jig. Falcon rods have great backbone but a lighter tip, so casting lighter baits is nice! That being said, the Amistad is one of my favorite rods, hands down. I have 3 and wish I had more
