I have an 80lb Ultrex with Spotlock and remote control and the 360 thing bolted to it. I ordered a lift assist for it and the assist cylinder I received is too long to mount the way the gas spring is mounted. It has a pivot bracket attached to it but my unit has no holes to attach that pivot bracket to the outer arm. If I drill the mounting holes for the pivot bracket, how do I locate the holes ?? Thanks for help TFF gurus.

If you were upgrading the gas spring for a stronger one with a current mount, you would have the proper attachment holes. You remove one gas spring and install the new one in its place.

You must have ordered the stronger gas spring for the current mount, and you have the older Ultrex. If you want to use it, you have to figure out where to drill the holes for the two screws. There is no template for a modification. That gas spring is for the added total weight of a MEGA 360, Target Lock, and MEGA LIVE.

I had mine done like this before there was a Minnkota upgrade mount and gas spring.

Without doing any modifications, you could have just ordered a replacement gas spring for the older 36V motor and it would be a direct change to a stronger one that is 860N.
I did that when I just had the MEGA 360 before I added the Target Lock and MEGA LIVE.
Changed the 640N to 860N.

Very cool, thank you both. I'll try the 36v unit switch first. Drilling those holes would not be such a big deal in the shop on a bench, not so much on the boat in the storage shed.

Ya that's the one I ordered. I didn't want to have to drill those holes, probably didn't have to be THAT accurate, just sayin'. Some improvement in the heavy lift will be welcome.
