Hickory is by far the dominant cooking wood for barbecue in this area, but Travis Mayes chooses the state tree of Texas (pecan) to fuel his smoker. It’s a challenge to find the joint itself, much less a place to park. Ordering is done by shouting into a small screened portion of a soot-covered window. Then a figure appears in the smoky concrete box to hand over a brown sack full of perfectly smoked meat.

Legit Que at a good price

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I've been a few times and never worried. It's in a pretty Hispanic area in Garland.

There used to be a Meshacks in South Dallas on Oakland, back in the 70s and 80s.
They made beef links that were out of this world. Guy named Little Man ran it.

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.
Bill Shakespeare

Not sure where you got that photo from, but those prices are not current.
$12 for a brisket sandwich.
$22 a pound

I went today, not impressed at all, had it several years ago and was a lot better.
Intrinsic brewery and BBQ down the road on the square is cheaper and much better by a long shot.
