Background: See my rant in Bass fishing section on "FFS Turrets".

In this age of FFS (it aint goin away), there needs to be a way to accommodate the optimum setup for the FFS transducer without forfeiting the "anchor lock" or "spot lock" feature of the TM.

1. The best "control / steering behavior" for a FFS transducer is to have it mounted on the TM shaft. This allows the use of the TM rocker pedal to "follow" fish on FFS with an "analog" type motion.
2. The worst place to have the FFS when using "Spot lock" is on the TM shaft. As the TM steers itself while in the "Spot lock", the FFS is rendered useless.
3. Having the FFS transducer mounted on its own motorized shaft ($$$) is somewhat effective when on "Spot lock" however todays motorized turrets are poor due to their "digital" motion. In addition, when not on "Spot lock" there are two sets of controls; a rocker pedal for the TM and push button switches / pedals for the FFS turret. Far from ideal.

The solution:
1. Have a TM head with a second (smaller diameter) shaft located just in front of the primary TM shaft. This second shaft supports the FFS transducer.
2. When "Spot lock" is not engaged, the FFS shaft rotates exactly like and with the primary TM shaft. Using the TM rocker pedal rotates both shafts.
3. When "Spot lock" is engaged, the TM rocker pedal ONLY rotates the FFS transducer shaft.

Please, Hummingbird, Lowrance, MotorGuide, Power Pole, etc. MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
I dont have a patent on this and dont want one. Run with it.

Humminbird's MEGA LIVE Target Lock does that. Using the Minnkota Steer function, the FFS is rotated in tandem with the trolling motor, or can be controlled separately via micro remote, or foot switch, or display menu from the trolling motor rotation.

They'll get right on it. FYI - you can expect a $2,000 price increase on the new model.

Be safe,
