This is a video from last week out at Caney Creek Reservoir in North Louisiana. The fish are FINALLY getting active and the bite is heating up.
Goodbye Summer and Hello Fall!!!

*Also, I took my family out to this lake for one more day of tubing yesterday to close out the season. We fished a bit while eating lunch and my youngest caught her first 2+ pound fish, which is a whopper of a black crappie!!! Thought she might lose the pole while she was reeling it in but she did great and immediately asked when she could eat it hahaha!

My dad had a camp on Caney in the 90's and we used to catch them like this. We were doing it with 2D sonar and basically do the same thing. We fished the upper end of the lake where a bridge crossed the main creek. The fish were actually concentrated in the road ditches where they ran into the creek in about 20 feet of water. We had days where we would catch a limit in the fall in a matter of a few hours. Our go to jig was tandem 1/32 ounce red head chartreuse fuzzy body with a chartreuse feather tail. The whole thing was about an inch or less long. These were hand tied by a friend of mine.

That's exactly the size I've been using out there that's been working great!

My wife's grandparents also had a place on the lake (they were there before the lake had water). Super fun lake for the kids and not as much for them to get hung up on as Darbonne while fishing so less time tying jigs for me haha!
