Someone please reduce my fear.
I had new marble countertops put in the kitchen and bathrooms. I had bought a set of 5 sharkbite valves and another set of 5 compression fitting valves. I am using them on 1/2" copper.
I just don't trust the sharkbites and am debating taking them off and putting compression fittings on those. Am I justified in my fear?

I am with you on this and it is probably because I haven't taken the time to understand the physics of the sharkbite connection. Compression I could understand and it is proven reliable.
I will defer to real plumbers answers on the latest.

Sharkbites & compression fitting valves use outside only solder inside only is what my 2 plumber friends tell me...

I used Sharkbites on my water heater about 4 years ago. They have been excellent so far.

Sharkbites are plug and play. I've seen them used mostly on the PEX pipe. Never heard about a problem. The old-school compression...Well, it's vintage.
Embrace the ease of modern. Use the Sharkbites. Return the compression.

Replaced valves on three toilets two years ago. Shark bite on one, compression on two. All working fine so far.

You are referring to angle stops I assume? Compression is my preference.

I’ve used shark bites on the last few jobs out here. No problems so far. I do understand your hesitation though.

Sharkbites are not designed for Soft Copper and will leak, I have seen them leak on hard copper a few times.
Never seen a compression fitting Angle Stop leak.

SharkBites are for an emergency fit only. Take the time and make the effort for something that has proven reliable for decades.

Shark bites will work- it just usually someone shoves them on with rounding the pipe with a crescent wrench first.

Sharkbites can cause issues with heating and cooling over and over. Heating to high temps can cause swelling and cooling can recompress the metal. Continue this process enough and it will fail. Heating water temps at 120 are probably not much of an issue unless the pipe also gets very cold, but commercial heating at 160 to 180 id a different story. I have used shark bite and will probably use them again

Thanks guys. I am off to Port A tomorrow but when I come back I'll change them all to compression fittings.
