Wife’s dragging me to a wedding (little does she know, I’m going to be sick that day) and we are staying at a waterfront home. Can anybody tell me some lures I need to bring? I’ll just be fishing from the shore. Saltwater only.

A lot of it depends on which side of the island you are staying on. My in-laws live in Fajardo and the beach fishing on that side is not good.

I’ve been here since Wednesday and I’ve been sick for most of it. It was either food poisoning from the lobster risotto at the resort or the ice in the drink at Luquillo beach. Not sure which. Be safe out there.

FYI, there’s no fishing allowed at Luquilo beach

Been using these for 20 years... DOA fellow originally from Texas.. best baits for what inshore saltwater fishing is all about...

If you are around tarpon, the DOA Terror Eyes, great in winter time when tarpon want tiny baits.. they will catch big ones too
Jacks will hit anything.. but you might add the DOA C.A.L. (catch anything lure)
DOA shrimp if fishing at night or under lights or under a popping cork if the fishing gets really tough.. got to work them slow...
DOA Baitbuster... dont leave home without it... best bait for snook, tarpon, redfish, trout, in south florida... but really any 5 inch soft plastic that imitates a finger mullet is great..

I am headed back to Flamingo next week and will have basically the same set of lures.. along with 5/0 Owner flashy swimmers and 5 inch Ignite baits. 30/50 leader is plenty unless you get into some bigger tarpon which will be a real challenge from shore.. 30 lb braid is what I normally use on 300/400 baitcasters and 3500-6000 spinning reels.

Half-ounce Johnson Sprite spoons, silver if sunny and gold if not. Bring some wire leader with swivels attached in case Spanish macs are there.

best bet to get bit would be for a shark... roflmao

might consider a snag rig for bait if the bait migration in Puerto Rico is going on like it is starting in florida right now

Several years ago maybe 10 now, I traveled weekly to Ponce Pr consulting on the construction of a new Macys store, the Macys project management team has houses at nearby resort. At the end of the day 3 pm, we would play golf at the resort, fish the resort lake or head out west and fish access areas along Hwy 2. Mostly for tarpon, but every now and then a Jack, snook and bone fish would get caught.
Like Iconn said soft plastics were the bait if choice for me, I brought zoom flukes in Avocado red tail and silver shad, but the original seible magic shad chrome black bait also produced. We would wade more than walking the banks.
The guys using fly rod and small streamers did the best.
