The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our 8th members only tournament of 2024 last Saturday, September 14th on Cypress Springs Lake. Fishing can be tough in September and it was a hot day with not a lot of wind. Lots of short bass, both largemouth and spotted were caught but keepers were not easy to find. 30 boats came out to fish and only six limits were brought to the scales. At the end of the day, the team of Chris Atkinson and myself came out on top with a limit that weighed 17.43 pounds. Big bass went to the team of Bubba and Elliott Davis with a 4.77. Here are full results and pictures.
Bo Dupree with their keeper that went 2.87
Preston Smith and David Horton had two
Same with James and Shellye Crawford
Johnny Davila and Joshua Honeycutt weighed in three
Elrid Richard had two fish
Robert Hitt and John Bruner had two for 5.04
Chris Lewis fished solo this month and had four for 6.95
Ronnie and Capp had a limit for 9.30
Sixth place went to Jerry Brown and Tony Schnurr with five for 10.03
Fifth place went to our TD's Eugene McBride and Tyler Austin with a limit for 10.18
Staying right at the top of the points race are Jeremy McLeroy and Tim Clark. They weighed five for 12.63 for fourth place
Third place went to Vince Burt and mark Werner who only had four but they weighed 14 pounds even. The winning fish wrapped Vince around a dock pole a couple times during the day
Second place went to Bubba and Elliott Davis with a solid bag that weighed 16.20
That included big bass of the tournament, this 4.77 hawg
Here are your winners. Chris Atkinson and myself made the adjustments and spilled my blood enough to get the fish biting. Our limit weighed an adjusted 17.43 pounds
Our bag included a 4.74 kicker, missing big bass by .04 pounds. Look at the bloody tail on this fish! September spawn?
Thanks to Hector De La Garza for doing registration, Garret Browne for keeping the money straight and Eugene McBride and Tyler Austin for running weigh in professionally despite a few setbacks. Our ninth and last members only tournament comes up on Saturday, October 12th on Lake Tawakoni! See you there!
