Is probably my favorite!! Got out some this week and found healthy fish all over the lake. Nathan and Mike put a good mess together and got off the water early to get back to Arkansas and catch a high school game. Caught fish from 10-28FOW with most 8-15' down. Everything was caught on 1/8oz Bad Shad. With little man on the trashfish team we've split our time but managed to put several good slabs in the boat this weekend since the trash fish didn't cooperate as good Sunday! I have some weekends and weekday dates left between now and mid November. I'm gonna take the kids hunting when they're out of school and won't book anything then. Holler if you want to load the freezer.

Very nice haul!! Man what a bass also!

Once talked to an old guy at the boat ramp in September that said "Crappie are like the groundhog for the fall, they'll tell you whether it's here or you're going to have more summer".
We had 34 keepers Saturday afternoon on Caney. The crappie are definitely saying fall is here!!!

Fall has been good to me in the last few years. When the “trash fish” bite slows its Crappie time!

I might make a winter trip back over there to fish Caney! Do you know of any decent places to stay at the lake?

So, we stayed on the lake for my wife's birthday in August. The place we stayed was great, but the dock was minimal with no electricity run to it.

I took a picture a month ago though of a different place on the water and found the website for the lady that rents it - looks perfect and she runs specials occasionally where it's buy 2 nights get one free or something like that.
Here's the link for it (https://caneylakelife.com/home-rental),

I'll probably hit Caney and Claiborne a good bit this winter with the drawdown on Darbonne limiting what ramps can be used. Last year was a drawdown for Claiborne so this year should be great if the pattern from the last decade holds - and as a bonus you get those monster hybrid stripers that bend your crappie rod all the way into the water occasionally hahaha!
