Just got back from a couple days of dove hunting after the championship so getting around to the report. Darbonne is always tough during a tournament and this was no different. We found good fish in 2 spots in on area of the lake after prefishing and day one they cooperated and we came in with 8.82 on 5 and managed 3rd place. Day 2 and 3 were terrible! It rained all day for the first 2 days and was windy the last 2 days. We were casting to our fish with 1/8oz Slab Syndicate jigs on a 7' Jenko Trick Stick day one. Day 2 with the wind and rain it was hard to cast a light jig and we had to move to 1/4oz as well as day 3. They wouldn't chase it as good since it went by them so fast. We would eventually give up casting and ease up and drop a 15' rod on them and they usually swam off then! Hat's off to folks that can get a long rod on those spooky fish and get them to bite. We didn't see many good fish at all day 2 and day 3 we saw alot more fish just couldn' get anything with any size to bite. We fell to 9th on day 2 and 14th at then end. Coming into the tourney we were sitting in 2nd place for AOY and that's where we finished up. Not the tournament we were wanting but happy we made it to day 3. They cut the field to 30 teams on day 3 and some dang good fishermen didn't make the cut. Texas can be proud, 4 of the top 5 teams for AOY were from Texas! Pretty good showing!

Thanks for all the support along the way! We couldn't do it otherwise! I haven't posted much, I take off July and August with the heat but I'm back in the saddle again if you want to get after the slabs. I have Sunday Sept 29th open and some dates in October as well and lots of November and December left. Fall and winter fishing are my favorites.

Slew, you guys did great considering the last month on Darbonne has been crazy tough. Only days I've been able to do any good at all were early mornings after moonless nights.

Like we were talking about a few weeks back they have been incredibly spooky as of late and just not cooperating.

I'm leaving Darbonne alone and heading to Caney this weekend to hit some brush piles in between hauling kids around on inner tubes.
Good luck at the next event!!
