Can anyone give a idea what lake the catfish are biting at within a reasonable distance of the D/FW metro mess ?? I want to catch enough for a nice meal but only catching 1 or 2 at a time on Tawakoni, I have given up on that lake. I guess I should also mention that I will be fishing from the bank as well. TIA and tight lines every one !

Tawakoni is a pretty good catfish lake. I have had good luck at Cherokee landing on Cedar creek lake from the bank there. Chum with soured milo and fish punch bait. That said I haven't been there this year so not a current report. I feel Cedar creek lake is under rated as a catfish lake.

If you go fish Denton Creek in the Coppell area, the channel cats are very active on punch bait right now. There are several spots where you will find easy bank access where the creek flows parallel to 121/Sam Rayburn Tollway.

Been smokin' the catfish on Twok for the last 4 years.
Has not mattered where, Anywhere that has trees.
Has not mattered what time aside from when water is coming in.
That lake is loaded.

Pick a few spot and chum with range cubes. I like the purina brand the best. Throw out some 5 to six handfuls at each spot target areas with water depth between 5-12’. After you chum the last soot go back to the first spot and start slaying those cats on a slip float rig or a more traditional catfish Kentucky rig. Bait your hooks with some Danny Kings punch bait (blood flavor). Strawberry jello flavored chicken breast also works really good. The blues really like that strawberry chicken.

Apparently I suck so bad at cat fishing that Twak isn't a good lake for me. Lol

I have literally struggled to catch catfish there all this year ! Just never in the right place at the right time, I have never fished it much from the bank until this year and I just don't know where all the good spots are.

Do you fish at night or early in the morning? Like starting at 5am?
