Ok, guys and gals, the question is how do you rig your crickets? on the bottom with a weight? free floating?
Been too many years since I used crickets, and think I need to introduce them to the kiddos.
thanks

From the bottom up - Hook, Weight, Cork. I like to use a sliding cork set up to make it easy to cast. Snoopy Cork optional! LOL
You can't catch'em if your hook ain't in the water

Use a slip cork with a bobber stopper. It's much easier for the kiddos to cast it that way. (In order = hook, weight-1/8oz, cork, bead, bobber stopper)
Also, for the kids it helps to put the weight only an inch or two from the hook. Otherwise most of their fish will swallow the hook before they ever know they have a bite.

You can also put them on jig heads.

I use a 1/64 oz. jig head and let it sink to the depth I want and work it like I would if I were crappie fishing

I just use a hook and very light rod and line. Just cast and let it swim. I do the same with grasshoppers except they float and that makes it real fun, may also trick up an lmb with the grasshopper.
A fish a day keeps the doctor away.

When ever I had crickets in the little screen wire cage with the funnel outlet that's supposed to only let one out at a time, more than one got or gets out. So I have the cage, the hook, the cork to stop up the funnel, and crickets crawling up my arm..........you get the idea. What is the best procedure for getting the cricket out of the container and onto the hook without the rest getting loose?

Looks like the hardest thing out there is trying to be smarter than the bugs. Having fun.
