I am not a fly fisherman... but found a place on lake Fork where I think a guy could catch the lake record bowfin on a fly.. I checked and it looks like just under 8 lbs is the fly record for the lake.. have fished the specific area three times in the last three or four years and think anyone that went there with a fly rod would hook one that would beat it or come close.
Got into them Friday and busted off several.. all huge, using 5 inch swimbaits... got the one below out and took the time to actually weigh it... the ones I hooked were all about the same by looks and fight..
If anyone is interested in going, I will furnish a kayak and meet you there... would love to see someone catch one of these monsters on a fly rod. PM me if interested..
