I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. We fish jug lines and catch pretty good fish in 10 - 20 lb range routinely. I rig up a rod with a slip cork exactly like the jug lines and fish the same area with the same bait, same depth, same hook and can’t catch a fish to save my life. I’d say that it’s that the jugs are drifting but the same thing happens when there isn’t any wind to move the jugs. The fish bite the jugs and not the rods. The cork is a good distance from the boat, and at times in amongst the jugs that are catching fish so it’s not that the boat is the problem. Any ideas?

How many jugs do you have out in relation to the number of rods? It could just be a percentage thing.

That’s true, but it’s dang sure frustrating. You’d think one would just get tired of seeing that one perch all day long and eat it to take it out of it’s misery.

Just keep trying and let us know when you get one. When I fly fish for the big ones it can take 4 or 5 hours to get a bite. But you will get one if you keep trying.

I had the same problem. My only explanation was that jugs put more bait in a defined area, than a single pole does.
