Been a long time since I posted. I am taking a novice fishing in a couple of weeks and I know central TX got hammered with some regional flooding this summer. I am hoping someone can recommend a fishery we can get into some numbers (novice angler). Panfish do count. And no grid coordinates or favorite spots, just looking for a fishery that may 'fish' in a couple of weeks.

I have enjoyed fishing the Lampassas, but I read the Maxdale bridge access is closed. That was a great spot for small colored up panfish. Any chance access is reopened? I have fished other access spots, but Maxdale was the easiest spot for new angler, learning. I enjoy that fishery.

I am thinking maybe Junction and the S Llano, but I know it is susceptible to flash flooding - did it get hammered 5 weeks ago?

I can't really drive farther S than Junction, coming from DFW. Austin is in play, but I don't know it well. I have Aaron Reed's book - but unsure if it got flooded this summer. I don't want to call Living Waters and just glean too much from them without stopping in of course. But I may just base out of there and visit them.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

And Jeff - another great trip to the Conejos! Love the RGCT - those were trophies.

if it ain't chartreuse, it's got no use.

REDDS? It's like Sept 3rd! Crazy. I still like spey casting. I'm probably the best spey caster that lives in my cul de sac!

Yup - will have to check the flows....

Thx

Check in with Chris Johnson at Living Waters Fly Fishing shop. http://livingwatersflyfishing.com/ Good fish may be closer than you think. And these rains? There was more S. of DFW.

yeah that is a superb shop. I wish we had one just like it in DFW - complete with a donut shop around the corner!!!
