The punch bait is now being made by another owner. Apparently he hasn’t let some of the new batches cure long enough because the bait is soupy and won’t stay on the #4 treble.
The container has a catfish that shows the fish holding a cross plus a scripture.
The older containers do not.
Not trying to badmouth but just be aware.

You are right. I like the bait (blood) for small channel cat but I have to shred and incorporate about 12-15 cotton balls in it (small container) and then add a bit of flour. After all that, I secure it to a single hook using elastic fishing thread. For what it cost, there’s no excuse for having to do all that. But, while it works, it’s not a bait for my target catfish so I use it when a grandkid wants to catch fish and doesn’t care how big they are.

The new emblem has the added cross to differentiate from the old owner.

That's sad to hear. I'll cross that off my list.

The Danny King's I've bought from Walmart recently (within the last week) has been just fine for me. Caught 16 eaters last night with it, and it stayed on my treble (a no. 8 in my case) well enough to catch multiple fish without rebaiting on some occasions.

Thank’s For Clarifying That. I Just Purchased A Gallon And Pint Of Blood From A Fresh Batch And It Seems O.K. I Would Prefer Danny Too Make It Cause I Know The Business Has Changed Hands Over The Years But Big Marv Is Gone And I Don’t Know How To Order Sure Shot Or If He Even Makes It Any Longer. You Sir Have An Eagle Eye.

BLESSED TEXAN.

Hands down, this is the best commercial catfish bait I ever used. When I lived near Texoma, the local bait shops carried it. I don’t know if they still do but it has changed hands since I was using it. It used to be punch bait, now it’s dip bait. I talked to the guy making it and said something about it having been punch bait. He said no, it’s always been dip bait. Maybe since he bought it but I used it for years and it was a punch bait that had enough Cotten in it to hang on the hook well. I don’t know if the “new” guy changed the recipe but I think you may have to order it online. If the recipe is the same, it’s the good stuff but you don’t want to get any of it on you!

Been using Danny KIngs "Blood" Punch Bait on Richland Chambers for the past 25 years and through the 3 different Owners. I have no sponsorship or receive no product or $'s off for using it. It just simply out catches any manufactured Catfish Bait I've used over the years. I've not seen any major difference in the product recently and just purchased 3 Gallons this past Friday from Wooded Acres Bait Shop on RC. My Son and I both had our Customers limit out on Channels and Blues on Saturday in the timber on the Richland Creek Arm of the Lake. Fast and Furious with lots of Eaters . Fish are still on the small side, but will only get easier to catch and larger as Fall and cooler temps arrive! Here's some Pics from the past few weeks. Enjoy!

DK is the only punch bait i can get here in Del Rio and it puts them in the boat. I will say pretty much just eaters but that’s all i need. I went out today and got on the fish quick but the bite went dead like around 10am. I hope that with cooler weather the fish will get bigger.

Awesome report/write-up Mr. Simmons. Like you and Jsj, I am also hoping to catch bigger cats as the temps start dropping soon.

And why are the jars now 12 oz instead of 14?

Here in Del Rio the only punch bait we have access to is Danny kings and is has yet to let me down. I mean it would be nice to try some of the others out there but convenience is king.

We had a fair weekend out on the lake and Like always DK showed out after I handicap ourselves by using tractor supply range cubes to chum. Dk did the job but i was very disappointed with the new product size. I got a few jars from my local DK supplier and was pretty shocked with the new size being offered. I was so disgusted that i might not buy any more DK. I ordered some Mr. Whiskers in both flavors offered. If it does as good as DK, i will have to change product lines. I have not tried CJ’s but i am thinking of making the 40 minute drive to academy and picking up a jar or two. I guess i will have some choices to make.

Good luck
