So, first post here in a couple of years. I decided to go to Kaufman city lake this morning to paddle and fish a little. I've spent most of the summer cleaning up storm damage in Garland with a non-profit. Then I got sick and spent 3 weeks trying to get better.

After poking around for about 90 minutes, I paddled to the east end oft he lake and saw what looked like a bald eagle in a tree. As I approached it, it flew from it's perch in the tree and flew over my head toward the west side. It landed in a tree on the dam, and I watched it for the next hour as it flew over the water looking for a meal. I only saw it take 1 fish in that time.

I've seen bald eagles on several TX lakes, but it has always been in the dead of winter, or early spring at the latest. This it the first one I've seen in the summer. I will definitely be on the lookout for them now.

Artie

Only place we ever saw them was at San Saba. Once Lake Fork opened years ago they were several there. They seem to be all over now. Not a whole lot of them but a few.

I see Bald Eagles on both the north end of Lake O' Pines and Bob Sandlin. They are awesome and put my fishing on pause, because I can't help but watch them every time I see one..... thumb

We have at least one pair that has take up residence on Lake Palestine. I see one often from my back porch.
Early this summer I saw two adults and a juvenile all at the same time. At one point there was a nest visible from
hiway 315 on the west side of the lake

Eagle sightings are cool, most of the time!

Here's a video of an eagle encounter I had out here back in January. Sucker was determined to eat my trout swimbaits.

I was just watching a PBS documentary showing Bald Eagles nesting. Those chicks are so ugly, I'm surprised the parents don't kill and eat them. I guess only a mother can see the beauty. Glad they raise up the young'uns. I never knew that Bald Eagles were prevalent in Texas. I saw some in the river in Jacksonville, FL decades ago. In the '70's, I saw a pair of Mexican Golden Eagles just South of Mountain Creek Lake near Grand Prairie. Majestic birds! I hope we don't kill them off with our henhouse ways. Please respect our environment. IslandJim
