My wife, our 11-year-old son, and I are heading to Dallas for this 3-day weekend. We’ll be staying downtown and would love suggestions for family-friendly activities, sights to see, and any good places to eat.
Thanks for your help!

Dallas has a nice zoo that will be right across the river from downtown. You can drive over but parking is usually an issue, or if you're close to a Dart train stop you can ride the train over. It stops almost right in front of the gate at the zoo.
You will find lots of restaurants in Deep Ellum on the east side of downtown, but don't go there. It's one of the biggest crime areas in Big D. Also, just across the river is an area called the Bishop Arts District. There are a bunch of places there and almost all of them I've been to are good. Lockhart Smokehouse, Abruzzo’s (Italian), Oddfellows (great for breakfast) and Eno’s Pizza are just a few. Plus there are lots of small non-chain stores to shop all over the place.
![[Linked Image]](https://sapgr.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/jc-patriot_guard_riders_logo-130x90.jpg) Family is everything! Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

It in deep elum so that needs to be figured into it. I would not have my children there after dark

As a general rule The farther south and east you go in down town, the more sketchy it gets. North and West are more uptown Some great food in those sketchy areas
Stay away from the fair park area
