I heard "through the grapevine" (but have since personally verified) that a new bait and tackle store will be opening just up the road from the Oak Cove Marina on Richland-Chambers.

Richland Chambers Bait & Tackle will be having a 2-day grand opening event from Sat., 31 Aug. to Sun., 01 Sep. (this Labor Day weekend). Hours are 8A to 6P. BBQ will be served!

I got to visit with the owner, Darryl, one of the customer service guys, Hector, and the official shad catcher, Jacob. They all are down-to-earth folks, and I hope they do well with their new venture.

Two unique things RCB&T will offer are live shad and fully equipped fishing boats for rent. These boats are well-equipped with high-end sonar, adequately sized trolling motors, and more.

Their website is: https://richlandchambersbaitandtackle.com/

Their phone number is: 903-257-8566

Their address is: 9866 US 287, Corsicana, TX 75109

TR21, yes, that is what took me to the actual location earlier this week, and afforded me the opportunity to meet the staff and get a "tour" of the new facilities. The way they have the shad system set up is pretty impressive. The whole staff was working feverishly to get the place all spiffed up for the opening. They are rightfully very excited.

So far, they have chosen to carry:

MAL Heavy, Chartreuse Tail

MAL Heavy, White Tail

MAL Dense, Silver Body, Chartreuse Tail

MAL Dense, White Body, Chartreuse Tail

MAL Heavy, Chartreuse Tail, #2 Hook for hybrid/stripers

Bladed Hazy Eye Slab 5/8 oz., Chartreuse

Bladed Hazy Eye Slab 5/8 oz., White

Bladed Hazy Eye Slab 3/4 oz., Chartreuse

Bob,

My wife and I stopped by the Richland Chambers Tackle Shop last weekend on our way to Home Depot in Corsicana. It's a very well stocked store with lures, fishing equipment, trailer repair, clothing and much more. They had your stuff on a end cap isle towards the front of the store. I got a few of your bladed hazy eye slabs and one of the white tornado lures. I already have a supply of MAL lures in my arsenal. Based on looking at the tornado instructions, I have 2 questions. First, why direct tie the lure and not use a snap swivel? To me, it would seem that you could possibly develop line twist without the swivel. Second, you say to use 25 lb test fluorocarbon leader. Why? I usually fish with 12 lb test Invizx Seaguar fluorocarbon line. Tieing a leader onto that doesn't make sense to me. Or, is your instruction assuming that people are fishing with braided line and that's the reason for a leader?

I really like the look of the tornado and can't wait to get out there and try it.

As for the rest of you, if you are east of Corsicana and on HWY 287, check out the tackle shop. I think you'll like it.

I saw them last weekend. It's starting to get crowded out in what used to be a sparsley populated corner of Navarro county.

RoadRunner, great questions concerning the White Tornado. The reason why I suggest tying your line directly to the lure AND why I suggest using a 25 pound test leader are the same. Both will greatly reduce the chance of tangling this lure while casting it. The direct tie and the leader both create a stiffening segment which will, in the long run, prevent tangles.

These two hints will help no matter if you fish with mono, braid, or fluoro.

I agree that avoiding line twist is a good, proactive measure. For that reason, I join my main fishing line to my fluorocarbon leader using a 35-pound-test InvisaSwivel. You can find these on my website and elsewhere.

Romeroxl, I do not think you will be happy with this combination. We've made every effort to get the fishes' attention on the rear end of this lure where the hook is by placing the eye, the blade, a chartreuse bead, and a segment of glow tubing at that end. As with all weight-forward lures, there is a tendency for these to tangle on the cast, especially if you do not add some manual braking while using spinning gear (similar to the manual braking you automatically apply when using baitcasting gear). I believe (know, actually, because I've experimented with it) that the stinger hook will just add to the chances of getting a time-wasting tangle. Just my $0.02. Thanks!

Thanks Bob,

I haven't had a chance to take the tornado out for a spin yet and your reply saving me water time in trying it.

You know I use your stinger equipped lure and love them; out on the boat they literally have caught every type of fish. They work all year, but might sound crazy...my go to winter Largemouth jigging lure.

Thanks for the feedback.
