Cop shot the dog in front of owner's family after he charged at him. I would say yes and owners fault...

Cop is a DB. Yes, it is the owner's fault. Yes, probably a legal shoot. Hard to call it necessary unless the dog was really getting on the guy. I call this a good shoot, but still say the cop is a DB. Don't think I would have pulled the trigger there.

I have an older epson that's about to die. When it does I'll replace it with the Epson Eco Tank.

I call this a good shoot, but still say the cop is a DB. Don't think I would have pulled the trigger there. I would say the cop called the dog, then quickly jumped and moved without the dog being aggressive. I would say the officer was way too quick to action on this, and could/should've taken steps to deesclate and work up the wheel of force as they are trained. It is likely OC spray would've been a few steps prior to lethal force.

Couldn’t that officer have just used some scissors? The left would want a social worker brought out first to coddle and comfort....

He was really getting on the officer. The problem for the officer if he didn't shoot is he may face discipline if he let the dog bite him.
That was just a bad situation all around. Sorry for the dog and the family.
I would like to see the previous couple minutes as the cop pulled up and got out. Was the wife outside with the dog and did not think to put him inside? Just a thought.

Had one shoot the neighbors malamute dog on my back patio before. The dog bit my wife, then charged the cop. Bang bang. The neighbor got mad at me! I told him to come clean his dogs brain off my patio.

I`m not a dog lover at all, but I think he had other choices. Pepper spray would be my first thought and even the stun gun. He is a borderline POS cop for not even trying some other option. Especially in front of the kids. I vote for douche bag cop.

No one gets a do-over in these situations. Sad the way that it went down with everyone observing the outcome, but I wouldn’t want to get bit either.

Especially in front of the kids. I vote for douche bag cop. The presence of kids cannot be a criteria in your decision to shoot. Sure, it makes the situation a little more dramatic, but if you have to shoot you have to shoot. If I am on the street and a dog comes up like that, my first reaction is to punch him in the nose. Yes, I have done it, and yes, it is effective.

It's too bad, I can't blame the cop for shooting the dog. Let your dog out of your control, bad things can happen.
