Headed there this fall. Never even seen the lake. I will be running around the far west side of the lake. Is it safe to run on that side or is there timber. Also what would be your bait of choice for crappie in November there. Thanks for any info.

Yes the upper end of the lake has timber on it and gets pretty shallow. That lake has given me more crappie drifting along the dam fishing mid depths for roaming crappie than anything else I have tried.

I always put in at Oak Park. They have handouts that have brush pile waypoints. These were very helpful to me when I first fished there. This has to be one of my favorite lakes. Tons of crappie just not a bunch of big fish. I never went west past the marina. No need to as there are hundreds of stake beds and brush piles to fish. Ask for Cliff Latta. I haven't talked to him in a while. Don't know if he's still there. Really nice guy.

I've driven to this lake a number of times over the years but never fished it till yesterday on an evening guided trip.
It seems to have a very good crappie and sandbass population, we caught 12 crappie and 42 whitebass in 2 hours.
This lake was 17 feet above pool couple of months ago, there is alot of timber than is just under the surface today, that was clearly visible during a lower water year like 2023.
Be careful with speed.
