Well I know this trip is about almost two weeks now. I really haven't had a chance to get the pics together. Seems the last few night's been making baits, and the weekends are on the lake playing with family and fishing. I told myself this year I am going back to fishing more, which has slowed my bait making a bit, but it beats not doing them at all,

.
This trip to Richland Chambers was with a TNT slab customer from around the Oklahoma City area. Met him basically over the phone thru a slab purchase last year. We have tried over the past few months but do to unfortunate events been unable to hook up. We finally found a time frame that worked and Marcus Peck invited me up for some fishing with him and his father Larry. Let me tell you the best thing about slab making, is visiting with customers and making new friends and when possible hooking up for some fishing.
Well the fishing was a bit slower then what the guys were used to on Richland Chambers. For me it was great to get on a new lake and just see new surroundings. In the evening we would manage some hybrids from probably 3 1/2 to close to 7lbs. They informed me that the size was pretty much the norm but the action was a little slower. We basically fished some humps for the most part, I am not even going to mention locations as I will have them messed up. We caught them on....well you should know that part TNT slabs. I took some of the new Haymaker slabs with me, and let me tell ya, they worked out great. They are longer then what I am used to using, but the 2oz one has good size to them and for a skinny type bait good action, which was nice. We caught them both vertically dropping and casting them was effective. We may have also caught a couple on wild eyes. I think the numbers for the couple days I was there was around 15-20 hybrids, I have slept since then. The sand bass were scarce, but even when we got into them the last day, we left them looking for hybrids.
Really probably the coolest thing to me on the trip was one morning the hybrid bite wasn't happening so we did some lure, gar fishing. Let me tell ya, that was fun, a hoot to say the least... I cant wait to try more of that down the road. Larry thanks for teaching me that and the gar lures. I got the hang of it quickly, first cast caught a gar just under 10lbs. Thought that was pretty good, didn't manage anymore myself but I took some video of Larry on his, it was cool watching him with the light tackle.
I only wish that I had a job that allowed me off a lot more, to take advantage of all the offers I have had from customers to go fishing, believe me that would be awesome. Marcus and Larry thanks guys for letting me hang out with you guys for a couple days. The trip was a good time and look forward to hooking up again down the road. Here are a few pics. Looks some of the ones I took on the trip didnt turn out that great, but also caught a lil bit of video, sorry no sound though.
This new lure, Haymaker has accounted for roughly 50 hybrids on 3 of my last 4 trips, and a slew of nice sandies, oh and of course 1-18lb blue cat

. So I guess that they like them. Once I get some home remodeling done this September I will offer for them for sale come October. Well now back to the slab factory
