I realized this weekend that I had fished at least one day in every month this year except August so I decided to get a quick trip in the kayak at Grapevine Lake this morning.



The weather was nice and very few fisherman out in the morning. Caught a dozen Bass but surprisingly no Sand Bass.
Smallest fish were caught on a small crankbait as Prosise had recently mentioned in another post.
All the larger bass were caught on worms. Got one flipping in the tires but nothing big today.





The planes were passing overhead non-stop at a rate of 2-3 minutes per landing on 18R Runway at DFW airport. IYKYK
Only saw a couple Wake boats which I was very thankful for.
Briefly thought about looking for schooling sand bass later in the morning but used my better judgement and got off the water before 11am.





Looking forward to some cooler temps in another week or so and fishing should really improve at all the lakes.

Looks like a good trip - I can recall many a similar sunrise to start the day fishing with you at that very same ramp ….. back in the 70’s.
