I'm thinking of going crappie/bass fishing somewhere the first week of Sept. 4 or max 5 hours from Houston. Where would you all go. I fish Conroe Somerville and Fayette quite a bit so not there.....I have a boat if that is a question as well.....TIA

If you want a change in scenery you might try Lake O the Pines. Lots of crappie bass and other species.

Was on the upper end of Somerville a month ago, bass and some crappie til it got hot in mid day, im in kayak, so fished shallows and did fair, if your spending the night at Nails park, night fishing has been good of late what im told. I havent been, prepping for dove season now, opening this coming weekend. I would advise of not coming holiday weekend, with kids, and grownup idiots on jet skis jacking with you! We carry in kayak so i dont tolerate BS on water! being retired, have no patience for that any more! no one respects your rights on the lake!
Usually go on tues, or wed at the lake now if we go.
good luck, tight lines...
Teach a child to fish, and you get them hooked for life! then the memories begin!

Pines, Texoma or Stillhouse.
If you think you're the smartest man in the room, you're not. If you know you're the smartest man in the room, find a different room.

Cedar creek or pines would be my choice in that range.
