You made me look through your pictures 3 times and eventually go to Google for the answer, but I thought "rockfish" was a Yankee name for stripers. And I wondered how anyone's taste buds could be messed up enough to think that they were better than halibut. smile I thought the fish in your photo was a grouper species, so I learned something new. Thanks for sharing all of these great pictures and the story!

I missed my chance at an Alaskan fishing trip. When I was young and wanted to go, I didn't have the time or money. Now that I have the time and money my health is too bad to make it. I always enjoy reading about Alaska.

We caught black rockfish and yellow eye rock fish! The black rockfish were schooling like white bass one day. It was cool to see! Flip a jig 10 foot under the boat and 3 would fight over biting it first!

Slew there ain’t many folks like you. Thanks for the post! You had a better week than I did. You’re right. I will never say dad and I went fishing too much! Never gonna forget the trip out east with my dad. Still have two bag of fillets courtesy of Lake O’ The Pines. He still tells his friend about it.

You ain’t gonna catch any sittin’ on the couch.
