I once loved watching bass fishing tournaments. Loved it. Kept up with all the guys and who was who and what they used and what they were good at... I turn it on now and hate it. Can't stand it. I don't like watching guys stare at their giant screens all the time, i don't care how many large fish they catch doing so. It sucks. I am 100% on board with Clark. Maybe FFS has brought in a whole new generation of fishermen into the sport, that really prefer video games over fishing, but i don't like it. It is not a sport.
I agree with some comments that were made earlier in the thread that the sponsors are going to dictate what is allowed and what isn't and I agree with that to some extent. However, maybe ratings are required for sponsors to justify their expenditures. I would think anyways. Guys like me aren't going to watch it anymore. But if 2 young guys who love it replace me as a viewer, then it isn't going anywhere... no matter how many old guys hate it.
Old Army Fight.
David Do they catch the fish in the screen or with a lure in the water? They catch it with a toy video game fishing pole and the fish actually jumps into the boat, weighs itself, and then puts itself in the livewell. Of course they catch the actual fish. Why ask that question? I am saying, for me (everyone is welcome to their opinion), i enjoyed the fast pace, beat the bushes approach to bass fishing. Trying to think like the bass. The pro would pre-fish, then the weather completely changes and they are working hard to find fish. Trying to maximize their number of casts. I relate to that. However, watching guys cruise around watching their video screens and making a cast every once in a while, putting the lure right in front of the bass... it's still fishing. It's even more catching. But it's not fun for me to watch. It's a different skill than the old guys had, but it's a skill i relate to less and it isn't as enjoyable for me to watch.

I asked the question because you said video game fishing which is inaccurate- the fish still has to bite the lure they still reel it in. It is fishing .

I'm to old to read 8 pages of info. but BASS can do this. have a 10 tournament season where every other tournament you can scope and the others no scope. That would benefit everyone. Does everyone on this forum think Greg Hackney can't catch them anymore, hell know. his style just doesn't fit current situation. I'm not here to bash or brag on FFS, but the proof is there. the current top fishermen in AOY are all scopers. I live at Toledo bend and man there is some great fishermen there that will not get live scope. I do have it mostly for crappie, but it's intriguing to me the way fish react and set up in certain area's. I've learned a lot about bass and crappie from it. I have no opinion either way on tournament fishing other than split them 50/50 from scoping to no scoping and see what happens.

I've quit watching the tournaments, many here never did, so they don't care, and they probably can't fish 'the old way' worth a darn.

I don't have it but have fished around guys that were using it and they didn't do any better than I did as far as the number of fish put in the boat. I've never tried what I'm about to mention because my side scan unit is mounted at the console with the transducer on the transom, but I bet with a bow mounted side scan and transducer on the trolling motor you could darn near replicate FFS.

I have a 3-1 HD on my trolling motor, along with the AT2. No way in hell is the side scan capable of anything close to the front looker. The 3-1HD is actually pretty useless on the front.
