I fished Texoma Monday August 5 to Friday August 9 with some friends, and we caught a total of 182 fish, mostly stripers and from 2 to 6 overs most days. Biggest was a 27-inch by Graham and a couple of 26-inch fish. In addition to stripers, we caught white bass, smallmouth, largemouth, catfish, drum, and a gar.

Boat shows helped us a few times – out from Blake Shelton’s place, off the NE corner of Preston Point, and off the OK shore north of the dam. The best pattern was finding fish suspended between 20 and 40 fow and drifting over them while cranking 2/5 oz Little Cleo nickel colored spoons up through them. We also caught a few with 1/3 and 2/3 oz Little Cleos and large white slabs. We didn't try topwater baits but observed some other boats using popping corks with what looked like frea-flies behind them. The prevailing size of shad was one inch.

When working surfacing fish, we did much better when we looked around with electronics until we found the deeper (20 to 40 fow) fish. If fish were surfacing and virtually no fish on electronics below 5 fow, the fish were very difficult to catch and they tended to be small box fish. Here are a few pictures:

Gene, my wife Beverly loves the area, so we booked a cabin on short notice for two for a weeks vacation. I like fishing there, so while I fished during the day, she shopped and toured. In the evening we did more touring, took a sunsett cruise, and ate out. I invited friends to come up and fish with me each day, and six took me up on the offer. Only Graham and Bob spent the night, and they stayed only 2 nights at a hotel in Dennison. So, to answer your question, Beverly and I stayed in a very (too) small cabin I booked on short notice. It was too small for even two and the marina there did not sell gas, so I won't mention its name on this public forum and would not recommend it. Not withstanding this, Beverly assured me she enjoyed the stay. Of course, this crazy-about-fishing me had a great time.

Great report and pics, DC! You are truly a fish catching machine and sooo kind and accommodating dude! breakdance

So i counted 6 straight days of catching for the formerly known as Mepps Master (including one day at another lake not Texoma) walking

Thank you for your Report. Very nice report. I always struggle in August and Sept. Cannot wait until Fall.

You picked good time. Over the weekend I saw more boats on that lake than I’ve ever seen. Just about turned them completely off.

Texoma Throwdown was this past weekend. Modified poker run. Lots of BIG boats and people.

Saw you DC several times that week and spoke to you once I’m curious where are you guys burning Cleo’s,in line spinners or bo blades?
I know the weekend was bad with all those big boats but it was pretty crowded all week for the most part
Way more than I like anyways :-)
Did you ever hook up with my dad?

chrisc/striper express guide service "I’m curious where are you guys burning Cleo’s,in line spinners or bo blades?" It was Little Cleos. Mostly 2/5 oz, but on the last day I did well with the 2/3 oz. Tried BoBlade and got no bites. Tried blade bait and caught one. Tried Panther Martin inline spinner and caught one. Dennis
