What is the function of the wire mesh area in the livewell. I get the purpose of the wire mesh thing is to keep debris in or out but is it a drain, is it water in take? When is it used? Only for recirculating?

They're called death wells now and since Largemouth bass are an endangered species they should only be used for storage. But yes, likely recirculate or pump out.

Screen is probably on the recirculation side. Its to keep anything from being sucked in the recirc pump

Had some minnows get out of the bucket in the livewell one time and all day I could hear the blender come on when it sucked one up into the impeller.
