Three is a picture floating around of the boat off the trailer and it shows the motor broke off the transom after the leash. The leash is still connected to the bolts, the motor broke further forward. But he said the leash saved his life. The lower unit is intact as well.

For all of you stating..."where's the proof the Leash works????" Watch this video! It'll show it saved his life. That could have been deadly.

I’ve had one in my motor for a year and a half. I don’t even notice it’s there. Hope I never need it. If I do, I hope it works. My wife decided it was cheap insurance. Took about 10 minutes to install

Where is this picture/ video that shows the motor and leash AFTER the crash?? I've looked for it and have not been able to find anything other than the go pro footage that is linked in this thread. It does not show the motor. I'm not saying I don't believe he hit something I would just like to see it with my on eyes.

Wonder if the leash broke after impact or was cut to get the boat to shore?

Yeh. Wondering the same. Looks like an odd place to “cut” the leash. That’s the spot where the webbing is woven together to make a loop. Seems that would be the thickest part to think to cut through. Looks more like it failed.

Also…why “cut” both sides, when only one side would need to be cut? Hmmmmm loco

I would think that if it broke, it would only break in one spot. It would be nice to know what actually happened.

Maybe the mounting bolts were in such a bind from the impact they couldn't unscrew them so just cut the leash. That mount on the right looks bowed out a bit.

Looks like clean cuts, I don't imagine that material would "break" that way. What is it kevlar?

It’s still intact in those photos above. So, yes,it was cut.
I don’t know what it is. But, I have the same one and it feels like Kevlar or some kinda PE on steroids.
