The engine is done ! The 1998 225 Promax has been reborn. They have 1 hour break in time and did the dyno. Factory, this motor runs 5800 rpm's....it's now pushing 6200 rpm's at 262 horse power.

a pro-max only turning 6200 rpms.

i thought those were 6600-6800 rpm engines. just curious.

I missunderstood him, I think all I realy heard is that it was finished.

The #'s have nothing to do with what the engine will actually turn, The #'s they gave me are the #'s they got with their test prop that gives them a ref point.......over my head ? He said with a different test prop he could run it up to 8000 rpm's. And he told me a bunch of other mumbo jumbo that I didn't understand........I trust him, plus I've heard from more than a few sources that he is one of the best Merc mechanics around.

bottom line is you getta fly again. I do like those promax engines, especially on a Bullet.

So, here is the big question. How fast? Over 100 MPH?

I've had it up to 86 and just before the rebuild I could only get it up to 82. I'll be happy at 86 again. I don't run my boat wide open everywhere I go like some do, I usually cruise around 70 but it sure is good to have more in the pedal when you get that wild hair. I think thats the only reason I fish tournaments, the take off.

Awesome boat but my next one will be a 21XRD w/300XS.
Mine is a "98" but you can't tell it from a new one and it's got all the Bullet bling including the new style trailer rims, I think I will hang on to it for awhile longer.

The 21XRD with the 300xs is one awesome boat. I rode in Billy Sartins not too long ago. Went almost 100 with the two of us, and one of my custom choppers.
That boat rode so smooth across the waves, i couldn't believe it. For a boat that is almost 22foot long that booger is FAST!!
