Mods, feel free to move the post if this isn’t the right place.
Hey everyone, I’m looking into getting into reel service cleaning and repair. It would be just a few bucks for me to clean and lube your reels up. With that said I’m looking for any broken/non working reels, that I can learn and maybe repair for free. The only charge would be for parts on the contingency I get it fixed and working again. If I can’t you won’t be out any money and I will not have tore up your good reel. Holler if you have any broken reels or reels needing a cleaning. I’m in Paris, Tx. Shoot me a pm if interested. Thank you.

How extensive is the reel cleaning? I'll clean the three main bearings on my reels at least once a year, but that's about as far as I go.

It can be extensive if you tear it completely down. Bearing flush / clean is about 1/3 of cleaning a reel. The remaining is the main gears clean / grease, level wind / pawl clean / grease, and if you need lube the drag discs.

That’s about what I do, that’s why I also included if anyone had broken reels it would be highly appreciated so I can really learn and deep dive into them. So I can do a better and more thorough job the more I learn and experience I get. Like I said in the post as a warning, I’m very new to this and very interested in learning. We had a guy in Paris that has done it for years, but last I knew his eye sight was getting pretty rough and it’s a struggle for him to do it anymore.

Find a old shimano curado b. It's a great reel to learn on.
Thank you, Shawn Smith
