Since retiring I'm down 98lbs, 298 down to 200 as of today. Heckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk YA.. It's been a battle but working on getting healthy again. I used to power lift and actually won and placed in a couple local comps thru out the years. I haven't been to a gym in years and thinking about getting back into the weight lifting, etc game but since it's been so long, I'm thinking of hiring a personal trainer to get started again. It's not something I would need long-term. Maybe 3 times a week to start and then maybe 1 time a week later on too none later on. Has anyone hired one and if so how did you find them and what was your experience?

Congrats on the weight loss. If you used to power lift competitively, you can do it on your own.

Save the trainers for the married moms looking to have an affair with a dude with a man bun.

There’s a place next door to our shop that does some serious training. It’s where a lot of pro athletes workout in private. The place has a few personal trainers.

In Desoto on Franklin
Jay’s Boot camp and total body fitness.

Tons and tons of great free content out there from a variety of folks on social media on lifting. What to do, how to do it, how often etc... Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, Sam Sulek, Jeff Nippard etc.. Pick your poison.

He is a hoot!
Did you see the one where the weighlifters recognized and spoofed him?

SWEET!

If you were a power lifter and you have already dropped 100 pounds, you should be good to go on your own. Add more muscle and the fat should keep falling off.

BassFever, I think BlueNitro lives around you and he lifts heavy.
He might be the guy who'd know. Maybe you can train together.

yup, put yourself a basic program together that you can stick to. eat right, little cardio. stick to that for 6 months and edit it as you feel the need and ability to do more and different. you power lifted so you probably have a good understanding now.

Looked and couldn't find a webpage for them. The one I did find is for sale. Their FB page doesn't offer much info on classes/prices, etc..

What gym is everyone using? Has anyone used Absolute Recomp and if so opinion? Since I'm an OLD @ 62 yrs now I think I'd like a gym with some extra things like dry/steam sauna's and those massage beds, etc..

Just be careful and check references. Lots of "trainers" out there dishing out bro science and getting people hurt and causing eating disorders.

The fitness industry has about as many shady types as all the rest put together.

Agree, one reason I'm asking my awesome TFF folks for references.
