Looking for suggestions on a good striper rod. Will be used for live bait only, from a boat. Also, any preference on color of line? Thanks in advance!

7 and a half medium heavy , bait cast only reel and 15 lb and up high vis . By all means put the rod in a rod holder and let the fish take the bait before one begins to reel ! So many fish lost by holding the rod and setting hook when the fish begins to take the bait.

gborg- thanks for the info. I just finished mounting the rod holders. Will be ordering hi-vis line today and start looking for a rod. Thanks again!

Depends on where you are fishing and what size the fish are. I fish Twok mainly and most of the time I am fishing open water, so not much to get hung up on. I prefer a medium action rod with a softer tip. It’s lets the fish take the bait without feeling much tension.
I took a guide in Arkansas for bigger fish and he used med/hay rods with a soft tip. His rods were very similar in action to my medium action pro angler rods that I use for catfish.

Being a Belton lake native. I use the Shimano Sellus rods, 7'1", medium fast. Spinning.
Size 3000, Daiwa Ballistic MQ. 20# braid. One is high vis green, the other is high vis yellow. (No leader, I color the terminal end with a Sharpie)
And I have worked these rods. Really put them to the test. No complaints. I'd purchase them again.
