And the list of victims can get real long, let's start with the owner, that's the easy one, then the honest employees who lose their jobs when the place goes out, the vendors who don't get paid when the bankruptcy happens, in corporate chains countless managers, general managers, multi unit supervisors lose their jobs every year because they can't manage to get this nonsense under control, the state and city lose tax revenue. And by the way it is nothing for a bartender to make 30 to 50 an hour and some of the little turds still can't act right. Add on other bars that are in market. They lose business patrons because of some clown bar giving the hook ups and over serving. Back in the days when I had a better set of owners surrounding my place we chatted real regular about nonsense, employees to avoid, customers that were causing problems, when someone got booted there was often a quick text giving us a heads up that a problem may try and walk in, we even collectively banned a few from all the places to try and get the real knuckle heads out of the area all together. Now I have a couple of ding dong neighbors who seem to enjoy the chaos.

You're right about working with other owners in the market, it works!

You're right about working with other owners in the market, it works! Most of the owners around me now don't understand that the big money is in families. They think selling shots to 20 year olds is gonna get them rich, they must enjoy having to pay a couple bouncers, have ID swipers and filling out breach of peace reports for the tabc because police have to roll in every night. Then they let the same knuckle heads march right back in the next night. I have never seen anything like it.

I'm curious how do you stop that? Do you tailor a menu or pricing to encourage a family environment? I'm sure you could kick out or ban problematic individuals, but if the frat boy crowd wants in, how can you change that?

No late night hours, no shot specials, don't put up with nonsense like dropping f bombs where everyone can hear, pricing them out. It will calm down a bit now because they are heading back to college. It's an overall environment that you can encourage or discourge . In 15 years at that location I have had 5 fights, 4 after covid...... every single time the parties are out if not forever at least for a while and they have to have a talk with me. I have a neighbor who has 5 fights a week.....

Worked at a pool hall/bar in college as a barback almost 30 years ago and was trained by what I thought at the time was a pro at "bar games". Pool sales had to be at 20% so once that mark was hit, the pool sale was rung up as either well drinks or beer to cover the drinks he gave away. If all his drinks and 20% were covered the occasional 1-2 hours of pool would go in the tip jar. If it was a regular, he got a long pour. Strangers got the fake long pour with his thumb on the air hole with the ice extra packed in. We had to weigh EVERY bottle and keg at EVERY shift change with a longneck count. Somehow, they got away with it so long as the numbers added up. As a barback, the most I could do was serve a beer if they were slammed and the bartender made sure I didn't touch the register. Yes, my name is Anthony, but I haven't been behind a bar in over 20 years.

That's not a comp ..... the bartender is stealing. It's not complicated. And 20 percent is fairly average tip so imagine what is being stolen and given to big tippers. Yep unless the owner is doing it for you.

If me and Yee Yee start hanging at my places they'll be dropping like flies leaving dust in our wake! Screw the big man we would leave closed bars on our trail. Throw in Nick Byrd and yall might have a hard time finding a drinking establishment.

Some would say charging $10 for pint of beer is stealing, not that I'm saying that.

Slip them a $5 and a wink and see if it works. I don’t think it will. In fact, I think you’ll get your [censored] whipped with a mop handle like that video.
