Had an amazing day fishing the Colorado river in Parker, AZ that I know you guys will appreciate. Have always done well on the river but this was an exceptional day. Got in the water around 7 and it never let up until i left at sunset. Went through 6 boxes of nightcrawlers. The river has given up what I thought were huge sunnies in the past but this was ridiculous. Caught 3 redear/bluegill hybrids that went 13-14 inches and about 3lbs. Got 20-25 that went over 1lb, about the same number of redears to about 2lbs, probably got over 100 sunnies in total, Also had about a dozen smallies to 4lbs and a bunch of dink largemouth thrown in for good measure. All caught on a deadly dropshot rig with a jighead as a weight, both with half a crawler, had several doubles that were interesting fights on the UL. Havasu gets all the hype, and for good reason, but the river below the lake is an amazing fishery as well. Cant wait to get back home at least for a visit, but with fishing like this AZ isnt too bad.

Nice! My Dad (born 1913) always said that if a bluegill got as big as a bass, it would take a well rope to land it.

Thanks guys for all the comments, it was quite a day.

Yeah Prim, those things put up a great fight. Broke off a couple early in the morning and had to loosen the drag. Those things stripped line all day long. Probably took me close to 10min to land the biggest ones with 6lb test. I was in a small cove near a point with an eddy and they went straight into the current and used those thick round bodies to their advantage. Thought i had a nice catfish.
