I smoked some ribs on the Traeger yesterday.
The ribs were tender but tasteless. I didn’t have a good bark at all.
What is your best recommendation for good rubs.

I prefer homemade mixed over store bought. You can find a thousand different recipes but they're basically the same main ingredients.

Usually the simple ones do the best for me.

Example,

"This rub is part of our Championship Rib Recipe that won Second Place at the Memphis in May World BBQ Championship."

INGREDIENTS

3/4 c Paprika
1/2 c White Sugar
1/4 c Granulated Garlic
1/8 c Brown Sugar
2 tbsp. Chili Powder
2 tbsp. Salt
1 tbsp. Cayenne
1 tbsp. Cumin
1 tbsp. Black Pepper

2 tsp. Oregano
2 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Thyme

Check out Mr Kent Rollins. I catch hell for streaming ribs before the grill but he doesn't.

He takes you through the steps.

Take some Tajin seasoning, mix in some sugar. Molasses, Cayenne, garlic and go from there.

I`ve been using this rub for all my pork proteins for years. I got it from the video below. Slaps BBQ (aka Squeal like a Pig).

For a mix 1/4 of the size:

1/2 cup each, brown sugar, white sugar, kosher salt, black pepper
1/4 cup chili powder and paprika
3 tablespoons tumeric
1 tablespoon of cayenne, garlic, onion powder

Another vote for the Sucklebusters or Meat Church Texas Sugar, Killer Hogs is pretty good as well.

Wasn't crazy about the sauce but love the rub. Best I've tried: Bubba D's

For simplicity just buy some 407 rub. I use it on ribs and brisket sometimes along with other store bought rubs.
