I swore I'd never do it again after going through the process with a boat, but I found a deal on an outboard without a title. Is buying an outboard without a title just as big of a nightmare as a boat?

No way, unless you’ll be on private waterways only.

Before you purchase, call TPWD and find out what's involved.

You don't want that griff and aggravation in your life. I bought a house with less paper work and B S than getting a title form Texas Park & Wildlife

it is a stupid idea to buy a boat motor or trailer without a title that comes from a titleing state. the folks that say when was the last time someone checked your motor will say not to worry but if you try an insure it an it is part of a claim good luck getting paid since you are not the titled owner. when motors dont have a title in a title state they are always a great deal because no body else want the pita to straighten the title out.

Man you all have some goofy laws down there... I just changed my registration from Ohio to Tennessee and all I needed was proof that I paid taxes on the rig and my old Ohio registration papers... Took me 5 minutes at the DMV and cost $6... She offered to help me get the sticker but said it'd be faster if I did it myself on the TWRA website... Dan

No title = You can't prove it's not stolen.

Can't prove it's stolen either...unless whomever you are buying it from does not use the correct number of ellipses . . .

if we didnt have so many laws as many units in tx you would have to have a guard to keep it from getting stolen.

Is there any way to check if it's stolen?

Yeah, have the DMV run the serial number. Better hope the owner isn't dead. Then it's a fight with the survivors.

If it is stolen. They'll confiscate it on the spot. Asking everyone about receiving stolen property.

It's not worth the headache. A completed lost title application needs to be done before a dime if money is exchanged.

Does it really seem like a good idea to you..... would you buy a car without a title? The cheap can become very expensive
