I just got the SV TW in. I have this and Tatula elite. I one will take one to the lake to keep there. Which one would you take to the lake to skip docks? The elite or SV TW

I have 2 of the SV TWS and use them to skip docks. I prefer them to the Shimano DCs that I have. DC can cast a mile but the SV does a better job not backlashing. With the DC and the SV TWS, I still find i need to still increase the spool knob tension a bit when skipping. No reel can prevent backlashes when skipping. At some point you you strike a bait too hard against the water surface and stop the bait causing a backlash. it may be some waves, it may be fatigue, you are going to backlash.

The SV TWS is the best for skipping docks. The SV TW will work also if you set it up correctly. The Elite is for long distance casting.
I told you all of this before. Do you have trouble understanding what people tell you??? like with the Trika rods? How many times do you need to be told the same thing over and over?

Im Sorry about my response, that was a bit harsh. I had just finished watching stuff on Kamala and wasn't in a good mood and shouldn't have responded to your question like I did after watching her.

It’s okay but I appreciate you saying that. I can’t watch it or I get pissed too. Honestly I couldn’t remember which one was better between the elite TWSV. I know the elite is more expensive. I suck at finding older posts. I don’t mean to ask some of the same questions I think you might remember my posts better than I do lol. Even if I remember asking the questions I stink at finding my older posts. I thought the SV was the best but wasn’t sure.

The SV TW and the SV TWS were designed for anti backlash and they work very well at that. The SV TWS is just a little easier to set up than the SV TW because of the design of the tension knob. The Elite was designed for long distance casting or casting light lures and it works great at that.

The SV spool was added to the 24 Tatula to help maximize casting distance. Also a shade lighter in color.
Both models have the T wing system, same drag system and aluminum bodies.
I have a few at the shop if your in the San Antonio area and wanna see it in hand.

I picked up 4 SV TW (two 7:3 and 2 8:1) last night at BPS ... they priced matched a current Scheels ad for $149.99. Cabela's/BPS gives you another 5% off to beat the price match. Then when I used my Cabela's card .. they gave me another 10% off yesterday (members day) then I applied $55 in accumulated points.. Took the lady at the CS counter a bit of time to get it all squared away.

Here’s my 2cents worth….
SV = the most backlash free reels out there.
Going all the way back to the old Team Diawa-S models from the 90’s to the SV’s as they’re labeled today, nothing comes close. I remember thinking, at the end of many a trip; the Team Diawa reels were nearly impossible to backlash compared to all my Shimano’s (chronarch, curado, citica) or non SV Tatula’s. Do yourself a favor, if you’re skipping/fishing docks, make life easier and compare what you got with an SV. They are the real deal and worth every penny.

Any experience if the 150s preform the same way? I was pretty impressed with how the 103s performed. If the 150s work the same way .. might chase down a couple ... not for skipping but throwing plugs or big worms in the wind.

I can’t give an opinion about the 150’s, never had one. My old 100HSD’s are still in use today as are the Tatula SV’s and Tatula Type R’s I fish with. So of the reels I’ve owned of the years; if I’m fishing docks, in close quarters or into the wind I’ll pick up a reel in this order… 1. Diawa SV 2. Diawa Type R 3. Shimano, citica, curado, chronarch in any order, they all have the same brake systems. 4. Lew’s - not trying to start a war here, love them for punching grass, not so much otherwise. Again, these are just my personal preference.
