I just moved to Arkansas from Texas of 66 years and what a difference. To register my 203 Champion-$15.00 for 3 years, The trailer-$45.00 permanent plate, Resident Combo Hunting and Fishing over 65 $35.00 Lifetime, yes for life. Also in the National forest you can ride 4 wheelers, side by sides ect, but not in Texas. Arkansas also takes care of the bank fisherman. They provide and maintain places all over the place to bank fish. Instead of spraying and killing out the vegetation like tpwd, they do things to help growth, like lowering the lake level in Millwood right now. Yawl need to start writing some letters to your state reps and and complaining. Texas has been ripping people off for years. Born and raised in Texas but will never go back.

I will not disagree they maintain their parks much better than TPWD.

There are some beautiful parts of Arkansas but would still rather be in Texas.

Texas - Total Sq. Miles = 268,601
Arkansas - Total Sq. Miles = 53,182

Texas - Water Sq. Miles = 6,687
Arkansas - Water Sq. Mile = 1,107

TPWD has significantly more to take care of than Arkansas. Bass fisherman in particular and even some fisheries biologists who come to Texas from other states compliment the TPWD ability to execute programs that other states do not have the resources for. Is it perfect? No and I doubt there is a state that has it right 100% of the time. Vegetation management is a hot topic depending on where you are in the state. Stocking is another. Gaining a better handle on border lakes is another. Everyone has their passion project.

I will continue to buy my Super Combo including saltwater tags and register my outdoor toys in the state.

If we could get about 5 million blue voters to move out of Texas, I think our state could be good again.

The state taxes are very little but the property tax makes up for it big time. My property taxes are 1/4 of what they were in Texas for a very similar place, car registration is 1/3

What's the difference in wages / salaries, and in cost of living, between Texas and Arkansas?

there’s only three things that tpwd cares about.

1. Collecting money from you in any way possible

2. largemouth bass breeding and stocking

3. Deer hunting and all that entails

You can go to any of our neighboring states (maybe not LA) to see the effects of not robbing funds from the department
