I was raised in St Louis and have been in Texas for nearly 20 years. It's been a good ride. As much as Dallas has started to "suck", I have to say that the DFW area offers an extraordinary amount of urban (and near urban) fishing options. This is something that I will miss a lot!

Saying this, we recently bought a few acres in Missouri about an hour outside of St Louis (where the Ozarks begin) and will be moving back to enjoy the rural life. I am so happy to say that my son will be moving back too! Missouri is chuck full of bassboat fishermen, but I gather that the kayak community is small.

Is it acceptable if I lurk on the Texas forum from Missouri and participate from time to time?

There's people here from around the country. Of course you're welcomed here.

I went to basic training in Missouri. During one of y'alls famous winters.

Keep staying a member and by all means keep posting. Would love to read some Missouri fishing post and seeing some pictures of some nice Missouri fishing spots. thumb

Yes; UT and Mizzou are in the SEC; thus posting here would be proper.

Thanks, Y'all!

I have not done enough fishing in the past couple of years. Once I get the new house rehabbed and land cleaned up, I plan to get back to fishing at least a couple of times per month.

Missouri is different... there are several large lakes, some of which are iconic (i.e.: Table Rock). Most of the lakes are in western Missouri. However, central and eastern Missouri has several nice rivers/streams (some trout streams!) and small lakes. I am looking forward to some clear river smallies! I might even try my hand at fly fishing.

Congratulations Mike-

I’ve enjoyed your post both here and in the OT-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

You also have Truman lake and Lake of the Ozarks. Both nice places to fish.

I fished Truman once when I was a teenager - it was a very nice lake and it's on my list of lakes to hit again. Stockton is another nice one, I fished this one a few times as a teen and early 20's (best that I recall, it has a decent walleye population!).

I try to stay off of Lake of the Ozarks - it has nice areas for sure, but the boat traffic can get dangerous quickly... especially now that im bobbing around in a piece of plastic wink
