So I'm planning to upgrade to a Ulterra - I'm old and my back needs the ease; not looking for input on which trolling motor ; )
Since, I'm doing this I also plan to put it on Lithium - which leads to a question - a single 24V lithium or 2 12V in series - thoughts? I was also thinking of adding a mini lithium for the other electronics and could use dual bank to charge both if I went with a single 24V.
Next question (bonus) - I will have a Terrova that works fine, needs a couple easy parts to replace (about 75.00 in cost) has pedal and remote, I haven't checked the serial number for age but the boat is a 2012 and it came with it from Ranger - so 12 years old. What would be a fair price in your opinions?

Depends on the amperage of the batteries. You would still need two bank charger for the 24V lithium. As far as the terrova if it`s that old it`s really not worth anything, can`t get parts to fix it if anything goes wrong.

A 24v battery will require a 24v charger. Several companies make a dual bank 12/24v charger where the 12v can charge a second battery. Only issue with a single 24v is if the battery takes a dump you’re dead in the water until you can get a replacement. With 2 12’s if one goes down you can swap in a lead acid until you get a replacement.

ok, I understand the 2 bank if i add the mini, but I was thinking 12V separate charger for the mini, if I went that route, but if I do a 24V 100AH, I'm thinking I won't do the mini. As far as parts, trollingmotorparts.com pretty much has anything you would need. I do really appreciate your input, please don't take my counter as argumentative - more just brainstorming.

True, but I'm not going to carry a back-up lead with me and if one goes down, I'm dead anyways - heck with the prices of lithium coming down, I would just have a back-up.

24v battery is only rated at 50 Ah. Don't think you'll be happy with your run time.
I run my Ulterra with 2 12V 100 Ah Iconic lithium's in series and can fish 2-3 days before charging.

Makes sense , you could put a lead battery in there , until you get another lithium battery . 24 could be out of stock

JMO - make sure you get a quick release bracket for that Ulterra. It's not a matter of IF you will be taking it to the repair shop, it's a matter of WHEN.

As for your old Terrova, I have one with spot lock problems and I am looking for another for parts. Where are you located? Price?

Just to let you know they haven`t made the board for that motor in two years . Also the gps receiver is no longer made or the steering motor. I try often to get these parts to fix motors but they aren`t available. Usually stop making parts after 7 years of motor being discontinued.

24v @ 100Ah is the equivalent power to -FOUR- brand new lead-acid deep cycle batteries on your boat. Is that what you need? I get that 100Ah batteries are typically the most common and pretty cost effective, but don't get too hung up on capacity. There's another post here mentioning they don't need to charge their 100Ah setup for 2 to 3 days, which reinforces the same point. - Do you really need 3 days worth of capacity?
- LiFePO4 really prefer to be used within 20-80% of their SOC range - Don't always leave them at 100%, use them for the day down to 85% and recharge them.
