So I've gotten it into my head that I'd like to go on a charter at the Great Lakes for salmon, and the area of Grand Rapids is appealing to me (no WAY am I going to the Chicago area!!)
Has anyone had experiences with a guide/charter who they'd recommend in that area?

Went a good distance further north of Grand Rapids, I can't even remember the small town but give me some time to remember the guide. We used his lodging but were not fishing the big water. We were wading the river when the salmon were coming up the small river to spawn. We went in mid September preferably the third week. Daniel

Did not fish the big water with him but did go with him up the river one trip. We mostly waded , used his small aluminum boat to get up and down the river to stretches we could wade. Daniel

Cool, thank you. Yeah, have gotten feedback from a guide up there who says that he's fishing the rivers at that time of year from his boat rather than wading. I'll have time to find someone.

Zeek, if you want to talk to the one we used, he was a teacher during the school year, his lodging was a railcar that was completed with kitchen and 2 bedroom. He might remember me, was there 2 years. Fishing big water is best late spring through late summer. Spawn starts late August through September/October. Steelhead middle of winter, January/February.
