I was looking for something in the manual for my Optimax and read the starting procedure. It states to pump the primer bulb. I have never pumped it. Does anyone pump the primer bulb before starting an EFI motor?

For starters, just for accuracy sake, your motor is DFI, not EFI (although kinda sorta same thing... still electronic fuel injection, just newer tech with "direct" injection) Primer bulb pumping only needed when motor has been sitting for a long period of time. Most of time, it will not lose prime, and upon you starting the engine and the diaphgram/low pressure pump begins to pulse, it will pump fuel the short distance back up to your engine on its own. Primer bulb only needed when boat has been sitting for so long that allllll the fuel has drained out of the line back to the tank, particularly on boats where the tank is up under the seats, or possibly even further forward, the bulb can be used to get fuel back up to the engine when the engine can't make it back up fast enough on its own.

I’ve never had to pump one on an opti, and that’s even after sitting for a while.

Yep, I know the difference. I could have typed EFI/DFI.
